The Beecher 5K was started in 1993 and has run virtually every year since its inception. In 2003, the Lion’s Club took over the race and the “Dixie Dash” 5K was held in the fall of the year. In 2006, the race was renamed the Freedom 5K and was moved to July 4th during the Village of Beecher’s annual 4th of July Festival. This year, we are celebrating the 18th annual running of the Freedom 5K.
The race starts and finishes at beautiful Firemen's Park in Beecher and offers a computerized finish and awards are given to males and females in standard 5-year age group categories plus male & female overall "Master" awards.
The race is one of the Lions Club’s major fundraisers and proceeds are given back to the community through donations to nonprofits groups, scholarships and glasses and hearing aid assistance for those in need.
